of course, nobody really knows unless the songwriter shares the exact story he/she had in mind, but there were probably only two women. the wife called the number on his phone--she looked at his cell and probably saw that he called a certain number very often. That number turns out to be his mistress, and they are both angry at him when they realize that the other exists. They only meet once, at the funeral, so they probably didn't know each other/about each other beforehand...what are the odds of them never having met? |
