| Pure conjecture, but consider when the song was written, early 70's. Exile released in 1972 - after States escalate their campaign in Vietnam and begin bombing Cambodia. So partially I think its a "middle finger" to America/LBJ/Richard Nixon/etc. But supposedly its all random words chosen out of a hat patched together. I also think part of it is a slam on Bob Dylan. Could be also a bit about speedballs and/or withdrawal, and above all else, boredom. | |
