Ellie Goulding – Only You Lyrics 13 years ago
Very simple.

He's the only person that can make her feel helpless, in pain, the "only animal I couldn't fight" because she is so in love with him, he has complete control over her.

"I'm on my knees" is in no way dirty, it's him hurting her and having so much effect on her that she's forced to fall to her knees from the impact of him.

Taylor Swift – I Knew You Were Trouble Lyrics 13 years ago
I relate this song to a personal experience of mine...

When I was in high school there was this guy, where the moment I met him he entranced me. He was different and had this air about him that said he didn't care what anyone thought about him, which really attracted me.
I knew he "was trouble when he walked in", yet I still pursued him. I wanted to know who he was, what he thought, what happened in his life and in the process he brought me down with him into the darkness.
He "flew me to places I've never been", introducing me to new things I never thought I'd experience. In the end he left me "laying on the cold hard ground" meaning alone, with addiction problems, and depression.
Throughout all this chasing and stringing me along, he got with my best friend several times. I still waited around for him to notice me, but when he was finally gone for good I realized "he never loved me, or her, or anyone, or anything" and that I wasted all those years for nothing.

Rihanna – We Found Love Lyrics 13 years ago
My interpretation of this song is simple.

Yellow diamonds in the light
And we're standing side by side
As your shadow crosses mine
What it takes to come alive
**
If you've ever laid down and stared at the sky with a million twinkling stars, you find yourself not thinking clearly. You sort of go into this trance where you see things that aren't there. I think, that with each other they see this glorious love that shadows their judgement and can't see that maybe they're bad for each other, but don't care cause it makes them feel more alive when they're together.
**
It's the way I'm feeling I just can't deny
But I've gotta let it go

We found love in a hopeless place
We found love in a hopeless place
We found love in a hopeless place
We found love in a hopeless place
**
She can't deny her feelings for him, but she knows she has to let him go because loving each other isn't enough. They "found love in a hopeless place" where "hopeless" means they just aren't good for each other. They bring out the worst in each other instead of what a relationship is really supposed to bring out, that being the best.
**
Shine a light through an open door
Love and life I will divide
Turn away 'cause I need you more
Feel the heartbeat in my mind
**
"Shine a light through an open door" is a methaphor for her seeing the light, knowing the relationship is no good. She needs to learn that love and life need to be divided. You can't give up your life and revolve it around the person you love because then it's not a very good life, often going astray. She needs to turn away instead of depending on him.

It's that simple, they love each other with all their hearts, but they're not good for each other and being together ruins their lives. Drugs can be put in there because often times a relationship with two people whose relationship revolves around sex and drugs clearly is a hopeless one, but in a broad view of it, it's just about how two people just don't belong together.
