Although I know that this song is about Lacey always feeling god with her, I feel something different. When I was six years old, my 17 year old cousin, my mentor, my hero, was killed in a car crash. Anna was just... Wow. She was fantastic. She was the girl that would finish running her timed mile in gym, then go run with the girl struggling to finish her laps. She was fantastic. I'm just like her, in many ways. Except I can't make everyone feel wanted like she could. We have the same eyes, the same style of art (she was a fantastic artist), we loved the same music, and she mentored me into making me who I am. She was killed in a car crash one night, coming home from snowboarding. She was supposed to teach me the next day... That's what this song means to me. I can always feel her when I'm snowboarding or painting or listening to The Fray or Death Cab For Cutie, or doing my eyeliner, because I can see her eyes. |

This song is very dear to my heart. In fact, I have a special place in my heart for this song, along with You Found Me, Boston by Augustana, and To Write Love On Her Arms by Helio. But anyway. This song is very dear to my heart. Someone who's working to get through depression and being suicidal, this song makes me feel like I'm able to see me through my close friend, who's stayed up with me through long nights just to keep me alive. So to me, it's about someone who's terrified about someone they love committing suicide and being lost without them. |
