Amanda explained it pretty much dead on.
As an ex-drug addict, I was in a relationship with someone I loved more than anything, still do. But our addictions were ruining our relationship, and neither one of us could get clean or be better people because we kept dragging each other down. I finally decided to end the relationship so we could get ourselves right; I moved away and told him I would be back for him. I've been sober for 15 months now, but he died two months ago in a fire (I always thought it would be an overdose). It's hard for me to not regret leaving him, but it had to be done. |

Could be, or it could be symbolism for how the other person has complete control over them. "The smell of my breath from the blood in your neck" - when you love someone so much you just want to devour them. I think it's probably a bit of both. |
