This, to me, is the saddest of all the songs ever written by Amy Lee/Evanescence. The songs is an apology to all of the fans of the band for being absent for so long, but also for not being able to write the same type of sad songs that they used to. Being "Lost in Paradise" is a metaphor for being happy to be where they are today, but at the same time they are "alone" because after all that they had done to build themselves up, they are not the same people they once were. |

The song is referring to innocence being corrupted, but not wanting to go back. They use the word "angel" as a metaphor for virginity. This can clearly be seen when they sing: "Your Virgin Mary Undone [...]." It's saying that he wishes he could take her virginity and that he wants it, "Tonight!" |
