I frankly don't know why it's called '42147' because It's about April 19th, 1943, the time Albert Hoffman ingested LSD-25 for the first time in human history. It's based on the first-hand written account of the experience...
There is in fact even a point in Hoffman's account where he said "Another world... was this the transition?"... Just as it does in the song. I wish I could find a direct link to it but these tell the story pretty good:

I'm very curious and would like to know the reason behind why it's called '42147' when that wasn't in fact the date of the day the song was about... It's too bad we don't have Warrel himself available to comment on the matter...
