In the book "The Executioner's Song", when a man is facing life in prison for murder, he writes a note to the girl he loved and wonders what if he should hope for the death penalty, as the alternatives in jail seem silly or unappealing. One alternative to what else he might do besides receive death is "Play handball?" Don't know if it applies, but I thought of it the minute I read that sentence |
