This song to me, seems to be speaking of maybe a relationship / love that was born out of a good friendship or at first being put in the "Friend Zone" and then becoming united into a relationship, but it has been a tough and rough road and hasn't been easy. "I know, no one had ever dreamed that, We were this strong and we'd achieve this" perhaps stating that the general public and friends may have said that there is no hope, maybe they themselves didn't have too much faith at first, but they still made a go for it and they have both shown their strength through it all. This song really hits home to strong couples. It speaks about how hard and long the fight has been, but still maintains the moral fact of "Fighting for which thou loves". If you are happy together and you have those people that try to ruin it, or life hands you both lemons, you shouldn't give up, but keep the faith and strength every day, through even the roughest of times. The reason I made the "Friend-Zone" reference is because of this: "We've worked so hard Pushed every day now See the blood sweat and tears on our face We've never been stronger There's no holding back now" Perhaps meaning that they have always been there for each other as friends. Maybe they were both in bad relationships, but they have always given each other great advice, always been there for each other and basically have supported one another as a couple, even though they weren't together. Now perhaps the "Blood, Sweat, and Tears" are in reference to the fight that is ongoing to keep the relationship alive, including the scars of past stories, that they both now share with each other. I could go further, but I think everyone knows what I am getting at here. This song is speaking in terms of always fighting for what we believe / know is right. I take it to heart as a relationship-based song. This album is truly a great one, and many songs on this album are relationship-oriented, so it would not surprise me if ATR was shooting to reach out to "Young Lovers" with this one. If you have someone great in your life, you know you love them, and you feel it will be worth it, never give in and always keep the fight and faith. We are said to be "Lovers not fighters, but we fight for what we love". Never let anyone or anything come in the way of you and what you seek, especially if you already have what you seek.
