| Sum 41 – Ma Poubelle Lyrics | 13 years ago |
I don't really like searching the meaning behind the lyrics, as I already see a meaning behind the song as a whole. I think it is interesting that the first time I heard the song I thought it was a french love song. But that just felt to simple for Sum 41, so I obviously looked up the lyrics. That they were this *random* didn't surprize me. Sure, it is not that random, but Sum 41 obviously messed around with grammar and forgot to make actual sentences on occasion. things aren't always what they seem, that's what I like to see behind it. It's probably not at all what Sum 41 was going for, but it is just as beautiful. It is a dirty song, but anyone who doesn't speak French wouldn't think that when they hear it. Justs my thoughts on it, I like to make things more complicated then they are :p |

| The White Stripes – Jolene (Dolly Parton cover) Lyrics | 13 years ago |
What the meaning behind Jolene is, probably as much as you can read above. It's just a story about a *woman* begging another woman to stay away from *her* man. It is interesting how this *woman* tells the other woman how pretty she is, not to compliment her, but to state the truth and the origin of her worries. But this is the cover version, that has an added dimension to it: It is sung by a man (and no one less than Jack White, of course). It brings equality to music. It doesn't matter who sings a song, sexuality doesn't matter, all that matters is the song. I like The White Stripes version better /judge_me |

| Metallica – Some Kind Of Monster Lyrics | 13 years ago |
I always understood this song as if Metallica is talking about humanity as a whole. The humans are ruining the Earth in many ways. It's not really about the environment, nor is it really about animals or humans that are being hurt for no reason whatsoever. It is about everything we do, as a whole. A monster is not a monster because of what things it has done, a monster is a monster because of its nature. It's very unclear, I am not sure if anyone would ever understand what I mean with this, I think it is probably just a very personal look on things too. It is fine that everyone looks at this differently, I guess. What's important is that you enjoy the song. It speaks truth, in combination of perfect instrument use, combination, perfect stereo sounds, I really love it :) |

| Ween – Mutilated Lips Lyrics | 13 years ago |
What they were going for exactly with this song? I don't know it, and I don't even think I want to know it. To say that it's about drugs and that's it is by far the easiest approach, but I think I do like to see more in it. "Mutilated lips, give a kiss(...)tentacles expanding in my mind, I'm fine," I really love that part (well, the chorus, haha), because the lyrics are too damn good. I don't think it is complicated at all, the song is about making out with an ugly girl, being in love with an ugly girl, probably while being on drugs. If he is on drugs while kissing, I don't know. The easiest answer would be yes. A kiss given by mutilated lips makes you think of tentacles. they expand through your mind, the feeling is overwhelming. This could be both a really good thing or a really bad thing, but in this case he seems to say it's just "fine" - It doesn't matter to him. I am only really giving my interpretation of part of the song, as the full song is probably just about loving a girl. She's ugly, but hey, "I'm fine". Appearance shouldn't matter. It really doesn't make matters any better or worse, it is just a fact. Now, to return to whether the person getting kissed by "mutilated lips" is on drugs or not, I like to think he's not. But if he is, Ween could be saying drugs make people equal. I'm thinking too much into this, haha. I really don't know, this is just my train of thoughts... |

| The Soft Pack – Answer to Yourself Lyrics | 13 years ago |
It's interesting how there isn't anyone giving their interpretation on the song. The meaning is/seems very clear; "You got to answer to yourself, you can't depend on anyone else", with a little tip "You got to write down what you know". Couldn't be more clear, no? The Soft Pack is trying to encourage people to do their best in life, etc. Still, somehow, I usually dislike songs like these. I often even detest songs that try to make you feel better (like a lot of pop-songs do these days). It just feels like they are lying to me, because humanity is imperfect. Still, I always loved listening to this song. I wondered why, since it doesn't encourage me to do anything either. Last night when I was singing it I realized that I didn't put myself as the listener I am, but I put myself in the shoes of the singer. When I listen to music, let's say Nirvana singing "I'm so ugly, but that's okay" (Lithium), I put myself in the spot of the singer. I know I like to help people that need to be encouraged (spend enough time on dA, haha), and I know I will never hit it big time myself, since I am just not talented. I don't really know what the singer is getting at with "I think I'm gonna die, before I see my time", but to me it doesn't matter if it's genuine or just sung because it sounds good; I feel it. It feels right. So here I was wondering whether other people look at this song from the singer's perspective too, and whether people actually gone through live changing action because of this song. It is definitely powerful enough. TL;DR, what are you doing on this page? I know it's a wall of text but it's all there is here right now. Shut up ;p |
