I feel that this song is about someone always pushing themselves to become better but never being able to get better at what there striving for. This is outlined by this: (I realise) I ran as fast as I can run I pushed as hard as anyone But still there's nothing for me The whole pushing himself so far has made him angry and depressed that he can not get more or better.
