Arcade Fire – Neighborhood #4 (7 Kettles) Lyrics 13 years ago
just to open up a question to discussion...why is it that the song title includes 7 kettles? The kettle part has to refer to the water boiling, I am just wondering...why 7 of them?

The Smashing Pumpkins – Wildflower Lyrics 13 years ago
I think that this continues with the concept idea of the album. This is about acceptance, moving on, and wishing better for someone else. The speaker is "wasted along the way" trying to reach the wildflower. Perhaps the wildflower is his ex-lover? Anyways, it seems like he realizes that they just aren't compatible but sees the potential in his wildflower and doesn't want him to hold her back. (I'm wasted along the way to reach you/wildflower in the wilderness outside/take your chance with love and laughter/and every word I write yeah/from the body that will never learn (him).) He knows it is over "when it's far too gone I'd move on" and almost seems to give permission for her to move on...maybe in an attempt to validate himself? (Carries over from my comment on "Inkless") Anyway, just my thoughts, I am new to the site so I would appreciate all feedback!!

The Smashing Pumpkins – Inkless Lyrics 13 years ago
another idea on the inkless thought came to me when listening..."a faith in love unseen." Perhaps "inkless" refers to their past love, it can't be seen, but there is a faith that an impression was left "what you need of me you've got inside of you." The next part makes it interesting, and I might start ranting here..."trace the face of love unseen/don't shadow up what we mean/uncover what we're meant to be/and unlace your light." Again, going to my theory of "inkless" being symbolic of their past love, the speaker could be asking for his ex-lover to trace their feelings in symbolic ink "trace the face of love unseen." Maybe as a sort of validation for himself that he did impact her life? The ending is interesting..he asks her to "unlace her light" and the end repeats that the "stars are out tonight." Maybe a sign that she did "unlace her light" on their "inkless love?" maybe it means that in a whole sky of darkness, the speaker still sees a glimmer of light? Just a thought. As you have said, deciphering these lyrics are intense!!!
