ok this is what it means to me: I think its about him having a sort of romantic fling with a girl but he got too attached and ended up actually liking her. “I made a big mistake with you tonight” means he regrets getting with her because he got too attached “The way our insides burned like moths flying to light” he feels like they both sort of ran into it without thinking about the dangers. “As the sun begins to set I cannot find my way back, Walking with my eyes on fire” he’s drunk? Gets lost on the way home cause he’s drunk? Dunno..really “I never found the payback” hmm really not sure about that one “We'll never feel like anything is wrong” it feels right at the time (but not when he looks back later) “The tragedy is not just our own sad song” it doesn’t just happen to them it happens to everyone (which makes him feel less significant?) “Walls we have built and bridges we have burned” they’ve made some boundries and cut themselves off from reality? maybe theyre ignoring other peoples views and advice on their romance “Deeper the hole the farther we feel from harm” the more intoxicated they are the safer they feel and maybe the deeper they are in love the safer they feel from hurting their own feelings later on. “I know the games we play Give us away, a way for us to see if we still feel alive” the games maybe being their flirting and other ‘activities’ ;) and it makes them feel like theyre still young and 'have a life' if you get me.. “Time is always right behind us” they rush into it not really knowing what theyre getting themselves into “Like the lamb under the gun” theyre getting old and soon to be useless maybe? “I'll hold on to this forever” now that he is attached and really likes her he will not let it go... “That is never long enough”…but he knows nothing will ever come of it :/ |
