Ace of Base – Beautiful Life Lyrics 10 months ago
This is to indubhushandas. You took just one line of lyrics from this song and condemned it because of your interpretation of it. You, then proceeded to preach, very dogmatically, what your religious beliefs are.
As an evangelical Christian, I just want say to you that you are entitled to your beliefs and you may freely express them, but you might consider toning it down a bit. Your lengthy comment says a lot about you and your attitude, that sounds like, it's your way or the highway.

Paul McCartney – Mrs. Vandebilt Lyrics 1 year ago
This song is a slam against the establishment. "I have plenty of time of my own", Time is money and money is time. He chooses to live outside of the rat race, he has risen above everything that the wealthy elites would have as a paradigm for us to live within. This song means more to me than ever before, as the billionaire class in 2024 believe that their money can buy the control of the world. I believe otherwise. They have gone too far into immorality and dictatorial control over society in the western world. This will be put on pause for a time. At least in the United States. I see one more generation before the tribulation begins for real. Not all, but most of the billionaire class of society are evil and rotten to the core and will eventually take control of the world for a short time. Afterward, they will be destroyed and peace will return to our world.

The Alan Parsons Project – Eye In The Sky Lyrics 8 years ago
@[pengy:19419] My thoughts exactly, one can become willfully blinded by love and be over forgiving of the bad being done to them by their love interest. In this song, his love crossed the final line and now he is fully awake to the real truth of this relationship. She has only been using him. "I am the eye in the sky", line could mean that he now feels that he has grown up a bit, having realized what the relationship was really about and, he has grown a bit wiser because of it. There are a lot of comments here from people who think this song is about surveillance from a totalitarian government or a casino. I just can't see that angle in this song. I have to go with Occam's Razor on this. It's a breakup song, no duality, no alternative meaning, just a really great song about breaking away from a bad relationship.

My take on this song is a man speaking to the wealthy class that he doesn't need any of their money, he doesn't want to have anything to do with them or their world. Happiness does not come from wealth and far too many people believe otherwise, but this man knows better. He would rather live poor than working himself to death as a cog in the machine of the elites.

Rush – Distant Early Warning Lyrics 9 years ago
There is one line in this song that really strikes me hard, "To live with the knowledge that the truth is not the truth.". In my opinion, Rush is very underrated as a band because they play songs about a human being's need to be free. Anyway, I believe this song is a warning to society that there are dark forces out there and they are controlling the system. These elite people have the money and own enough media companies to give them the ability to deceive most of humankind. The truth is not the truth because the elitist bankers pull strings to have our children taught lies in school and the mass media to broadcast lies to us through our televisions. This song is a warning to mankind about what could happen should we continue to be complacent as to who holds power in our government, whether it be the US or any other nation.

Yes – Siberian Khatru Lyrics 10 years ago
Impressionist style song like most of the songs from "Yes", I love this song, I love how this song takes a departure from most songs in the rhythm/tempo.
While listening to this song I get a picture in my mind of a subarctic wilderness next to a fast flowing river during the very short, warm, summertime period where life abounds and the insects are, rather much larger than they grow to be in more temperate zones.
Add this scene to a person contemplating the vastness of the universe, the incomprehensible complexity of all things and how it all could be comparable to a river running over one's head.
I love how Yes sets a mood and can take the listener into their world for the short time that it takes to play one of their songs.
Of all of the songs from Yes, this is my second favorite, my first favorite by Yes is "South Side of the Sky". Bone biting cold, a failed Antarctic expedition that resulted in the death of all who participated. This song has a way of really putting you there with those poor people.

I noticed that right away. "I've seen suns that were freezing and lives that were through", are the correct lyrics.

On my other comment, I guess I link this song with one of his later songs, "The Goodbye Look", which seems to me like a reference to Fidel Castro taking over Cuba.

I imagine this song can mean what you want it to mean.
To myself, I see it as a derisive stab at the idealists who believe that utopia on earth is attainable. "Unhand that gun be gone" could be directed toward a new political leader who has convinced the people to follow along with his utopian vision but soon finds that the only way to make society to do as he wishes requires military force and tyranny.
"If he's holding it high, he's telling a lie" is directed toward society telling them that your leader does not have the answers.
"There's no one to fire upon" means that there was nothing wrong with society to begin with, the idealistic dictator really should have stayed in school because now he will only hurt innocent people to force his will upon them.
I see the song as a condemnation upon socialism/communism, of course that is only my own personal perception on this great song.

I agree with the government change in Cuba concept. Perhaps it's being sang from the perception of an American spy who is expecting to be murdered behind a casino by the beach.

Eddie Money – Think I'm in Love Lyrics 11 years ago
In my opinion, I think this is a song about a man who has only wanted one night stands until he met and fell in love with a woman. He knows that with a one night stand, he can do it, then forget about her. But with this woman, he wants to stay with her, but is still afraid of becoming a father. Because of this, he suffers from erectile disfunction disorder. Hence the "because I can't get it up" lyrics. Then the lyrics "baby how'd you do it" means that she was able to give him an erection, or was it a resurr-erection? This would make perfect sense, for if he had blue balls for so long, his penis may have died and would be in serious need of a resurr-erection.

Jethro Tull – Lick Your Fingers Clean Lyrics 11 years ago
I can see how this song is a slam on organized religion, but I also see this song as a slam on socialism. I can't read the minds of the band members, but when I listen to this song, I feel that it's about government getting into every aspect of our lives and making us all miserable as a result.

Creedence Clearwater Revival – Don't Look Now Lyrics 11 years ago
This song has so much meaning for me in these times. A communist administration is trying to fundamentally transorm the United States into something it was never ment to be. You don't have to work anymore, we'll give you a check, you don't have to pray anymore, we are going to do away with God. CCR may not have forseen the happenings of today when they made this song, but I'm calling this a warning to all who would allow the powers that be to take care of you. This kind of thinking, if widespread among the populace, will surely result in disaster, ruin, and mass death and murder.

I believe this song references the holocaust, but it is a warning of history repeating itself on a much larger scale in the not too distant future.

Maybe not what Yes ment by the song, but there is talk of an ill fated mission to antarctica under Adm. Byrd to destroy a nazi stronghold there where the nazis were colluding with extraterristial/extradimentional beings. I know how this sounds, but those who believe that we are not being told the truth may find this post interesting.

Tears for Fears – Mothers Talk Lyrics 12 years ago
I think that this song is partly about the resurgence of progressism and its belief that through social engineering and behavior modification we can all be turned unto better worker bees to slave away for the system, albiet, a nihilistic system.

The Fixx – Red Skies Lyrics 13 years ago
I believe this song is about how WWIII happens because of all of our indifference to the world around us. By being so caught up in our own lives, we have forgotten to consider what is really important
