The Alan Parsons Project – Eye In The Sky Lyrics 13 years ago
I base this partly on the next two songs of the album and partly on the name of the preceding instrumental Sirius, often played with it. I think of things like crop circles, Stonehenge and U.F.O.s.

I believe this song to be told from the point of view of a space faring individual or race who may have came to Earth many years ago with the intention of benevolently guiding the still tribal human population. Instead, what humans persistently showed them was an almost insatiable desire to tear away at each other with great malice. Like children, the humans beg them to stay and continue bestowing "blessings", but their greed is seen through for what it is. The alien(s) deem their intent a failure and leave in their ship, as an Eye in the Sky. I believe the song to be an expression of the aliens' deep disappointment with the darker side of humanity.

The Alan Parsons Project – The Eagle Will Rise Again Lyrics 13 years ago
My opinion: This song seems to me to be a stopping point of the "Voyager's" trip backward through time. This stop - on the way to his ultimate goal of the Pyramids of ancient Egypt - would seem to be the time immediately after the death of Jesus Christ; I like to think of it as being that night. The song's title would seem to pay homage to the Bible's Gospel of John. I usually picture St. John singing these lyrics mourning the death of his friend and prophesying the coming of Jesus' rising again on Easter.
