Pink Floyd – Fearless Lyrics 13 years ago
Clowns was the wrong word. I meant not following false idols. Be fearless about setting your own path and don't be overly trusting of authority, no matter what authority it is. Countries going to war for lame reasons, politicians viewing their constituents as sheep, teachers abusing children, people subjugating themselves to a God who no one can prove exists, and so on...

In due respect to the previous comment, I don't believe they were referring to Jesus. Not in the way you had in mind. I'm very respectful of religion. But Gilmour and Waters are atheists, this is about relying on yourself and setting the pace yourself, and not relying on some invisible man in the sky. You'll notice the line at the end of the song, "You'll never walk alone" is sung by the masses, almost like a soccer chant. Clearly a nod to self-reliance and relying on your brothers in arms - nothing else. Very inspirational song about finding your way - and not following clowns.

David Gilmour – There's No Way Out of Here Lyrics 13 years ago
So negative.. Fellas, this song is not about Hell. It's about LIFE. Roger Waters was the acidic, cynical side of PF (And Brilliant too), but Gilmour was the rhythm, the positive side, he's making it clear that this is your shot - don't miss it. He's agnostic, he doesn't believe in Heaven. He's respectful, but he doesn't believe there's a God who's going to save you. When you're in this life, you're in for good. Don't waste it thinking there's a 2nd Act. There isn't. It's actually a very positive, uplifting song - don't fear death. Just maximize the time you're here...
