Radiohead – Nice Dream Lyrics 9 years ago
To me this song is about being in a group of friends, but not actually knowing whether or not they're your real friends. This person is starting to realize that his/her relationships are shallow and insignificant. The Bends and High and Dry are two other songs from this album that I think mention this search for real friends and people who actually care about you.

The Smashing Pumpkins – X.Y.U. Lyrics 10 years ago
I think this song is describing a relationship from the point of view of the man who is very abusive and rapes his partner.

The lyrics, "And I said I wanna fill you up, I wanna break you, I wanna give you up
From one another, another one should come to one another
No one should come between us." show how the man is very overbearing and psychotic. These lyrics also illustrate his desire to rape his partner.

The man is also trying to justify himself by saying, "She couldn't run away cause she was crazy," in other words, he is blaming it on her because she didn't understand what was going on and she didn't fight back, so it was her fault since she was unstable and let him rape her. Then the line, "'Cause I'm a watcher, and I'm a doer of none," is him trying convince whoever this song is directed to (possibly himself?) that it's not his fault, he was just lonely and she was by his side.

As a result of the rape, the woman was pregnant. However, the woman lost the baby possibly by abortion. The last line of the song, "Bye, bye, baby goodbye," further solidifies the aborting of the fetus.

The Mary Had A Little Lamb part illustrates the man's psychotic tendencies. He is comparing himself to a lamb and his partner to Mary. When he says, "Now Mary's got a problem" he is addressing the accidental pregnancy resulting from rape. "Mary has her ghosts" symbolizes the woman's regrets of aborting the fetus.

Whatever the meaning of the song, it certainly is a very demented and psychotic-sounding song that no doubt has a lot of hatred and wrath behind it. I don't know if Billy Corgan was thinking about any of this when he wrote the song, but that's how the lyrics sound to me. To me it just tells a sad story of an abusive relationship that is very cruel and corrupted.

Blues Traveler – Hook Lyrics 11 years ago
I'm pretty sure the meaning to this song is open to interpretation. To me it's about the music industry (hense the term 'hook' being the part of a song that is catchy and attracts attention to itself) and how easy it is to get someone to like a pop song even if it has no meaning and is just another one of the 'hip three-minute ditties' that are played on the radio, which is sort of ironic since the song itself became Blues Traveler's biggest hit. Some lyrics in the song also point at politicians and how they lie to us and break their promises, yet get away with it. There are probably other interpretations as well. :)
