Off Minor – To An Ex Lyrics 10 years ago
It's creepy how one lover's feelings have no bearing on the other, isn't it? Despite meaning so much, we mean so little.

Radiohead – Airbag Lyrics 10 years ago
When I was getting into Radiohead I was also reading into existentialism as well. I'm realizing now that the two are related! In his writing, Albert Camus talks about being on some sort of autopilot until absurdity hits you in the face. You're just mindlessly living your life until something crazy happens. That's this accident. Your habits and routines just lose their meaning, and you start to wonder what the point is. One solution to this problem is suicide, which No Surprises (and perhaps the Romeo & Juliet nature of Exit Music) alludes to. The most ideal outcome is a sort of grander acceptance of absurdity and to assign your own meaning to your life. While this ideal is yearned for through many of the songs on this album (Let Down, Subterranean Homesick Alien, Exit Music), it is never reached. The final (and less ideal solution) is an eventual slip back into that mindlessness, which the cyclical nature of The Tourist and Airbag suggest. Something (like a car crash) snaps you out of it, but given time and the technologically obsessed and fast-paced nature of the world now, it's SO easy to fall back into it and repeat the same process again and again and again and again.

Converge – Jane Doe Lyrics 10 years ago
I used to think this album was about feeling extremely angry at someone who broke up with you, but it's more complex than that. Sure, there's anger in there, but a lot of it is the dense cluster-fuck of emotions bursting when the person you've put every fiber of your being into drifts away. That's more than just one singular feeling, and it's reflected in the sound of the music. It amazes me that they got the SOUND of all of that inner turmoil down perfectly.
I think the last line is the most important. "Run on" Though it is a slight bit spiteful, he is letting go regardless of his loneliness and dependence on the girl because it's what's best for her. Some of that may be a bit of me projecting my personal experiences onto the music, but that's my take.

Converge – Hell to Pay Lyrics 10 years ago
I see it as the the narrator talking about himself from an outside perspective. Obviously he's in a really emotional state due to a break up, (that's the whole point of this album, right?) and he feels the girl is oblivious to just how bad he's feeling. She's moved on while he just can't. He kills himself in the night, while she's asleep and thinking/dreaming of things other than him.

Fleet Foxes – White Winter Hymnal Lyrics 12 years ago
While I do not much about personal issues the band members chose to put into this music, I do recall reading somewhere that the singer's brother became involved with drugs. This caused him to distance himself from the family, at least to my knowledge. Regardless, this song makes me think of a shepherd, leading a group of lambs through a snow covered forest. As is often the case, a shepherd will try to protect their flock from danger. I wonder if the singer sees himself as a guardian to his brother (a lamb) who is then killed by a wolf (And turn the white snow red as strawberries in the summertime). This leads me to believe that he feels that he has failed in protecting his brother from evil, be that drug addiction, or anything else that might prove harmful.

Tool – Forty Six & 2 Lyrics 13 years ago
After just listening to this song, it makes me think of child abuse. I'm pretty sure other Tool songs have dealt with this subject, but I don't remember which. Anyway, the shadow seems to represent the narrator's mind, clouded from the abuse. The scabs can also be old wounds from the abuse. The whole song seems like a reflection back on the abuse, and "clearing out the bad thoughts", so the narrator can go on with his life. He chooses to walk past these thoughts (the shadow) and pick open the old wounds (the scabs) to deal with his inner problems, and move on.
