I think this song is about a man who believes that every woman is evil (probably because of something that happened in his past.) And he meets this lady and he likes her a lot, but when they get married, he turns into the devil himself and starts abusing her. "If every angel's terrible Then why do you watch her sleep You love to hear her sing And wear purple eyes like rings Well the flowers have no scent And the child's been miscarried" The version of the song I have, CocoRosie whispers something that I made out as "She sounded like an angel when she cried" So near the end: "If every angel's terrible Then why do you welcome them? If every angel's terrible Then why do you welcome them? If every angel's terrible why do you welcome them? You say, You'll provide the birdbath If I provide the skin She sounded like an angel, she cried." Could be her death or when she finally defends herself (probably death) |

I think this song is about a boy who dated a girl. But the girl liked someone else, so she left him for the other person. The boy is jealous and wishes he could be who she is with now to the point where hes thinking suicide: "I'll be your number one with a bullet (Take aim at myself)" |

I think hes talking about love also... "This is what I brought you, This you can keep. This is what I brought, You may forget me. I promise to depart Just promise one thing. At this part the person has asked the other out but has been rejected, the person understand's the feelings of the others and says they will leave them alone though it would kill them to be apart from the person they love. "This is what I thought, I thought you need me. This is what I thought, So think me naïve. I promise you a heart, You promise to keep. Kiss my eyes and lay me to sleep." At this part the person begins to feel anger over being rejected and confronts the other. They are saying that they thought they would like them back but they were wrong. They were ready to give them everything but they didn't want their love. |
