I truly suck at interpreting songs, that's why I mostly try to find it here on Song Meanings, so don't take my interpretation too seriously, it's just my feeling about it. I think it's about situation, when everything used to be fine (most likely about someone in love with someone else), but then something fu*ked up, and at least one of them (at least the narrator of this song or maybe even the other person) is now really unhappy or even depressed, but they couldn't find a way to return to the days when everything was fine. |

This song is a criticism of religion, most likely Christianity. "600 years of progress lost because of you" -refers to fact that christians stopped our progress in middle age and that's why we still "don't have flying cars and we can't fly to the stars" |
