I play the drums. My favourite band is Mastodon. I also like Iron Maiden, Metallica's first 4 albums, Alice in Chains and Led Zeppelin.

I just read this book called Anthem written in 1936 and I noticed it sounded a lot like this. Rush based their album, "2112" off the book, and I'm thinking soad based this song off of it or some retold version of it. This book takes place in the future and everyone refers to everyone as "we". There is no "I" and it's a total communist society and technology is really undeveloped. But the main character has enough will power to think for himself. In the chorus it says eating seeds, because that's what people eat when they don't have ovens and stuff like that. The character goes through ruins from a previous time (when we live right now), so there must have been a war that destroyed the old world. You could say there was a nuclear war because the song is called Toxicity and nuclear waste is a form of toxicity right? Also no one talks to each other in the village and people are going mad or feeling completely bored because of it. ("somewhere between the sacred silence and sleep... disorder") "When I became the sun I shone life into the man's hearts" - this verse definitely has something to do with the book because he proves to everyone how much better he is when he discovers electricity, and gets people to follow along with him. Another similarity is how a council of extremely old people run the community and they are terrible at it. The chorus of the song says "what do you own the world? How do you own disorder?", which is a way of mocking them and saying they're doing a bad job. |

All I understand in the first verse is that the person in the story opposes god. And @ RockHawk, I dont think It's jesus, I think It's Satan that he hides behind. Thats who the 3rd verse is about, i think. It says that theres thorns ripping through his brow and "beast of burden". That can't be jesus, however the verse mentions a prophet which jesus is. "I will have her, she is mine Rise of the sun, my test of time And when shadows fall on unholy ground It's time to sleep again" The chorus above is about how he wants her and every day he is tested to see how long he can last being without her. Rise of the sun just means morning "And my mortal heart shall beat again Like it did ten thousand years ago" Mortals don't live a thousand years, but it could mean he was reincarnated and felt love for the same woman. Jon Schaffer wrote about reincarnation in the song "Life and Death" too. I made an important correction in the last verse: it's "stake" not "stare". I dont know if "stake" is a double meaning about a crucifix and the stake that kills a vampire. He probably is a vampire. This verse also hints at it: "Skin soft and white, eyes fire and ice Just as I recall Not longer than nine score Certainly food for the gods And fit for a prince Her throat I'll have it now" cuz vampires can't resist beautiful women |

| It says Jesus Christ is the almighty crutch that christians depend on for forgiveness. You say a little prayer and youre all right in your head. Jesus is a master of puppets but in a different sense than the metallica song. Jesus and his followers too are getting more people to follow. And they probably do it to get into heaven and be loved forever. If you dont you're tortured and burned for all eternity in hell. Either way you go, both are a little extreme considering you've only lived for about 81 years by the end of it. | |

All the Christianity fanatics are shown that there beliefs are wrong and they have never gotten repentance or forgiveness for any sin (brainwashed Hippocracy). The stormrider thinks thats funny. Somehow heaven is destroyed I guess. Probably by demons. I dont know what it means by "brainwashed fools born again of a thousand lies". How are they reborn?. Anyway, after that the world turns into a sinful, ungodly place, with no angels. Blasphemy reigns in the masses- means that everyones an atheist. The stormrider realized that hes been betrayed by god like everyone else has. He feels himself being drawn to the other side (satans side). "only time will tell" if he actually does go there. | I think the line "culture vulture" is about how the whalers circle around the whales slowly killing it. "Long and Strong" just describes them rowing. The rest is self explanatory, except for Physeter catodon. who knows what that is | |

I figured out a new meaning to the title. If Capillarian means something like being a lifeform and crest means "the top", then to me the title can also mean the height of evolution so far. My favourite line "shake the hand of lightning" sounds like youre meeting Zeus. Then the line "We have climbed to bestow our trust" is like saying I put my faith in a god to get him to take away the werewolf curse. Their songs can have a million different meaning cuz they write while on acid right? Also, Brent is like a god playing these awesome guitar licks with that beard like Zeus so does my interpretation make sense? |
