To me this song is about aging. Childhood and teens are the spring of your life and your 20's and 30's are the summer of your life. Once you get to 35 you know this is the last part of your "youth" and you start wondering what your old age "the winter" will be. |

I was just thinking about the sinister nature of a spider and how it spins it\'s web creating and taking it\'s time to catch it\'s prey off-guard, luring it in and waiting patiently in the corner out of sight, patiently waiting for it to become stuck, getting tangled up in such an evil seeming way, and yet that\'s the nature of the spider, It\'s how the universe intended it to be, it\'s how it survives. The song and video by The Cure - Lullaby symbolizes that, and I feel I can relate as it to me represents our darker side as humans and the seemingly ungodly and unkind, almost cruel and calculating things we might do to get ahead in this life, whatever that might be, whether it\'s in the corporate world or just cutting people off in life in order to progress. On the outside it may seem awful, but to us it\'s all we can do to survive and get that which we want or desire, It\'s how we were created too. \n\nI\'m sure that isn\'t what The Cure had intended the meaning to be, but it\'s just my personal perception. |

I think this song could be about loving someone in silence, like someone you can't have for whatever reason and loving them until the bitter end of finally falling out of love for them as nothing happend between the two. When she sings i'm going to sleep until your touch say time will it begin. I think she means she will be in a daze of smoke of love until they actually get together physically touch otherwise she will continue to love until the bitter end of forgetting him finally. But until that time she will sleep in the smoke of love of not yet having him but loving him still. |
