I think it makes sense the meaning would be similar to a song like disposable heroes by metallica. In this case the suicide machine is a soldier and has no voice against the choice of the leader sending them into battle. In a more broad meaning however this song is obviously about euthanasia |

I would say that this song is more metaphorical, relating to alienation. Not being able to communicate or be understood with others (maybe such as James's parents when he was a kid). |

I've always thought this song is about how people judge Dave (and first judgement in general) because he is in a metal band. He talks a lot about the beginning lines about "What do you mean I don't believe in god, I talk to him everyday" in interviews, because of people thinking that he isn't christian because he is in a metal band. |
