Why so angry because others may see it as an obsessive and unrequited love? That is in keeping with Chapman, whereas to him, losing mt religion was Lennon saying the Beatles were bigger than Jesus, and Chapman thought he was losing his peace and love messages by living a hedonistic life, which totally threw Chapman off, as he was not the almost God-like figure he had been worshipping. Loss of religion just in simple terms can be a set of higher beliefs that you base your life upon, in this case, the belief in a love that is not real. |

I personally, was fascinated by GuitarTeacher's take on religion and the belief in or questioning of the belief in a God. If your attention span is too short to read all that he/she wrote, then just skip it. No need to be condescending; he had way more to offer than you did in your incomplete three sentences. |

Very interesting and makes a lot of sense, now that I am aware that he is gay. Makes the above comment from the person who had an "in the closet" gay brother dying of AIDS, who loved this song. |

I think this an excellently written and well-thought out analysis of this song's lyrics, whether or not this is what the band intended them to mean. This is the sad, but true reality of religion. |
