I don't know it's just a thought, but when it says "you" it could mean "his life" aso in some cases. "Cause I see the night It's coming for me To take you away" The days are passing and like a thief they steal my time, "my life" away. |

It sounds like he may be saying "What if you don't make it, or live" or "What if you don't want to be with me" "Cause I see the night It's coming for me To take you away It's here as a thief I know that I'm scared From down on my knees I'm asking relief" This can seem like death, like he's praying she'll live, or he's begging forgiveness asking her not to go. Either of these could be taken at the literal sense, but behind the scenes when he says "When all of my time is gone away I want to say I've left more than days" it makes me think he's referring to himself. Saying "What If You Don't accomplish this?" Jason said himself in his "What If You Don't (Commentary by Go Radio)" I found on Spotify. "What If You Don't, was really kind of a make it or break song to me. When we started writing it, and when we started going through it, and we started deciding what we wanted the song to be about, it was a very deep song for us to tackle, just because the song it's about wanting more than what you've got, it's about wanting to be not just a better musician, and not just a better you know artist and not just in a better place in life but in a better place in actually as a man. It talks about wanting to, wanting to be sure that whenever you leave, you've left something behind worth leaving behind, that we make our mark and that we show everyone exactly what we're worth and what we're made of and not just musically, but in everything." |
