Unless the writer was homosexual (which he's not) the line "Listen, honey, here comes my man," wouldn't make very much sense if he was the one making the statement. But he isn't. He's quoting the girl in this situation. He was waiting for her, expecting for them to work it out to be together. But instead, she's already dating someone else. There is the possibility that it's written from a female perspective, and the chorus is literal, but that's unlikely since the verses suggest that the character is going to seek love elsewhere, rather than having already found it. |
