| Air – Kelly Watch the Stars Lyrics | 13 years ago |
| Unlike some of you people who apparently got tired of this song (I don't know why), I find it musically beautiful and the lyrics.... well..... I suppose they were the only thing that fitted with the music. Simple but great song! | |

To me, this sounds about war, or the victims of a war ("As brother fights brother / Wrapped up in tarnished flags / Banners and body bags"). Great song, kind of ominous. Reminds me of Simon & Garfunkel's "Scarborough Fair". |

| I suppose that it's about violence and crime in third world communities. In my opinion, this is made obvious by the reference to Laventille, a city of Trinidad that a very high crime rate. | |

The song's themes are very varied. It could be about technology, global warming, terrorism, war or, gathering all, about the end of the world. The "bunker" and "women and children" parts definitely refer to the bombing of a civilian shelter in 1991, during the Cold War. The "ice age coming" part, may refer to climate change and global warming. The "mobiles squerking/chirping" part may refer to our attachment to technology. And I've always thought of the "take the money and run" part to be about stock market crashes. All in all, the song has a very strong psychological tone; the way Yorke sings (desperate, about to go crazy) aids to make the song sound sarcastic. Like if the singer was laughing about all those things he's singing about. 'Idioteque' is an incredibly unsetting song, and quite possibly one of Radiohead's most enigmatic ones. Even though some lines don't seem to make sense, to me, the meaning is a little too clear for the lines to be picked out of a hat. Anyway, hands down, my favorite Radiohead song! |

| I take it to be about karma. This is most obvious in the lines "one by one, it comes to us all", for what you get is what you give. Or something like that. | |

I believe I'm not the first one to say this, but to me the most obvious meaning of this song is that the person whose heart was "filled up with nothing" is a kid that used to have a vision of a perfect world, where everything was sparkling and shiny and good. But, he has grown and has seen a cold world, or has been disappointed by it, and that ourselves are destroying every beautiful thing (this, of course, may refer to urbanization, pollution, environmental issues, etc). I also interpret, when Win screams the "little gods" part, alludes to desperation, and that the bright tone of the melody alludes to the idea that no matter what, there's still hope. In my opinion, the juxtaposition of beautiful, feel-good music and pessimistic lyrics make this song even more devastating. |

It may be about insanity. The paranoid way in which Byrne sings it, may be a proof of it. He talks about a place where he listens to himself and that there are things sweeping him off his feet. It may be about mental breakdowns. Personally, I believe this is one of Talking Heads' darkest songs (even though some people believe it is the exact opposite). But, interpreting it in a more contemporary way, the song might as well be about terrorism. Lines like: "Boom babies" "Hold tight We're in for nasty weather" "Here's your ticket pack your bag: time for jumpin' overboard" "Fightin' fire with fire" "People on their way to work" "Gonna burst into flame" remind me of 9/11. Of course this isn't something Byrne could have possibly known while writing the song. But, if we interpret the song and adapt it to the modern context, it might as well be that. |
