| The Dangerous Summer – Of Confidence Lyrics | 13 years ago |
| Here’s how I interpret it: They are two good friends (boy and girl), and she has plans to go forward with her life and he is still struggling with his purpose and his identity. Although they are friends, they are drifting apart in separate directions. He recognizes that his life is small and almost meaningless. Because she cannot accept that, she pities him. She wishes he could find purpose. She ends up having sex with him, and he gives in although he knows it is not a good idea. She isn’t doing it for the right reasons, and he is confused and reckless: causing him to fall into the act. At first he is ok. Then he realizes the ramifications. Later he is broken up about it. He has mixed feelings about her. He ran away. He is confused and broken, and he finds her almost ignorant and manipulative. He wishes he could take it back and he wishes even more that she would understand him and accept him for who he is. He doesn’t want her to try to change him. She cannot see eye-to-eye with him, and he is frustrated. But after all of it he still cares for her- even though he may not want to He cannot help it. He has mixed feelings, and has a lot of remorse, but in the end- he cares for her and realizes that she has been through a lot of trauma. He realizes that although they may not have mutual understandings, he still cares for her. This is a bittersweet feeling to him. In the end he just wants her to know how he feels about it all and want’s things to go back to normal: even though he knows it can’t. So he’s basically just telling the story and voicing his thoughts in full understanding that it won’t change anything. But it’s a great song! | |
