Hi guys, notice I said in my last comment I hadn't bothered to check whether the lyrics above were 100% correct or not? Well I felt bad, so I looked em' up. Bodom Don't keep any official records of this particular song's lyrics on their website, but I got this version from a reputable source, it's not a great deal different from the one above, but highlights a few typos and errors from the one everyone is studying to find meanings, so I thought I'd post it :) Here ya go... "Banned From Heaven":- It's a color that I can not show When I could easier pose But you probably knew that I was lost Did you think that I would right now Show you things I have lost? Swim if you're diving for a human being Yaow! I blame myself for every second That i was gripped by some foe Standing for the only one, for you To kill me by your left toe What even can I say, get me out I was the one who sold My body and soul to the devil No one that I know when I say "I am the one" would lie Since when we spoke I stream with fire Wake up in a pool of blood Locked up, when you get banned from heaven Looking I just saw me dripping down blood Don't worry, I'll get up to get down where I belong Banned from, Heaven Banned from, Heaven Banned from, Heaven Banned from, Heaven Wake up in a pool of blood Locked up, when you get banned from heaven Looking I just saw me dripping down blood Don't worry, I'll get up to get down where I belong Wake up in a pool of blood Locked up, when you get banned from heaven Looking I just saw me dripping down blood Don't worry, I'll get up to get down where I belong. |

Well it's worth noticing there are a number of parallels between the lyrics, and some passages from the writings of "The Divine Comedy" also known as Dante's Inferno, which show the characteristic lyrical themes of religion, sin and purgatory which Alexi often writes about (see "Bloodrunk" {sin} "done with everything die for nothing" {Purgatory} angels don't kill {religion} - these are just a few examples of such song by CoB.) The cryptic line "Swim if you're diving for a human being" particularly conjures up images of punishment from Dante's inferno, or could be a pop-culture reference to the classic metal track by Dio - "Holy Diver", that's all I could yield anyway, though there is plenty of interpretive work that could be done here. The line "To kill me by your left toe" which someone was asking about is likely a reference to folklore about the devil, left being things which are evil or deviant, and the Devil's Toe-nail often depicted in legends, possibly also a sign of defeat, Alexi describing himself in a position at the Devil's feet. Oh and yes there are a few typos, and I suspect some of these lyrics are wrong, but I haven't bothered to check tbh, and that's all I've got on this one folks! :) |
