I'm just assuming that the lyrics that were posted in the comment that I grabbed this from are correct.. Anyway I think this song is most likely referring to his opinion of and feelings towards radical Islamists, given that the song has a very middle eastern feel with the riffs and chords, the vocal melodies and styling, and the rhythms, etc. and starts off with that sample of whatever guy speaking some Middle Eastern sounding language (anyone know what that sample is from? or what language that is? and what he's saying?). Given that they're from Long Island right out side of NYC they were probably pretty close when 911 happened and I'm sure it probably affected them in a big way, and looking at these lyrics I'd guess that Daryl probably isn't a huge opponent of the War on Terror in general. I'd also guess that he's not a huge fan of Christianity either, giving a song that sounds like it's about religious extremism a somewhat humorous-sounding name like "Jesus Glue", possibly hinting that he doesn't feel Christianity is much different from Islam (especially given that Jesus is recognized as a prophet, though not the son of God in the Q'uran), or that by being a largely Christian culture, the West is sort of "glued" to the Middle East and all the Abrahamic religions that came out of it in sequence to supplant each other (given how Christians believe in the Jewish scriptures as the "Old Testament" and that according to Christian scripture in the "New Testament" technically practitioners of Judaism are doomed to hell in not worshipping Jesus as savior or following the New Testament, and also that the Q'uran states that Christians before Muhammed are granted salvation, but those Christians after his time are expected to accept the teachings of Muhammed as the pure interpretation of God's Word rather than what it claims to be as corrupted and changed versions of God's Word in both the Hebrew and Christian Bibles). Honestly I don't know what Daryl's religious affiliation is, but I do know that Justin is Jewish (whether ethnically, religiously, or both, I don't know), so I'm not sure exactly the scope of what they're knocking on, either religions as a whole, Abrahamic religions from the Middle East, just Islam and to an extent Christianity, just Islam, or just radical extreme religious fundamentalism and terrorism in general, but I think it's most likely either religion as a whole or just the concept and culture of Jihad. As for the "I need you own you to want you" and "jealous lover", that confuses me a bit, so if it is about radical Islam, then he could be using romantic references as a metaphor for war and clash of cultures, or else the other way around, using the violent imagery and usage or religious ideas and words like "faith" as a metaphor for seduction (maybe he was into a Muslim chick or a girl with a different religion?) but I'd say I'm definitely leaning a lot further towards the former. Maybe jealous lover means lover of God in that Christians and Muslims both worship god, but are competing in a way that is somewhat similar to a guy's girlfriend banging someone else (female infidelity being something he seems to write about a lot anyway). It makes you mad... With your head in a bag, dear god you look so fucking sad Embrace the reborn Your belligerent die amoung your rabid core Ignorant, they will play They will indoctrinate the fetus in your name They're scared to death of your game A modern divide with your leap of faith I need to, I need to I need to own you To know I want you I need to offer You another Jealous lover I'm glad they'll be saved While I sink where I stand Their faith shall be restored In a valley of fire in his Daddy's war Your cries that won't make Me hold salvation for the fetus in your name I need to, I need to I need to own you To know I want you I need to offer You another Jealous lover I hope the heads of all your children are used for the pleasures of pagan gods |

| oh and greed, different types of greed, possibly as another type of addiction he may or may not be talking about. practically any emotion or motivation can be an addiction come to think of it. | |

This song is pretty obviously enough I think about addiction, but although he's using a lot of reference to drugs. it's possible he may not be talking directly about drugs and instead could be using it as an extended metaphor for maybe addiction in general, or a specific kind of addiction, perhaps sexual or other, or of course it could just literally be about drugs; who knows but him. I put equal signs below just to put what I think he's likely referring to, but artists have their reasons you know for saying things vaguely and in code; as they say politics is using the truth to lie and art is using lies to tell the truth (not saying I think hes an addict, but rather he likely knows at least one person that is, coming from near a big city and all). It could even be something generally positive like singing or artistic expression which he could himself be addicted to and he's just talking badly about it because why not; I make fun of things I like and things I do all the time; like I said, who knows. Maybe he intended numerous different interpretations that people tend to come up with all at the same time; that wouldn't surprise me coming from an artist like him. From the pills for the whispering (whispering=?) Even children know you are sickened by your own protest (protest=nausea as a bodily protest "heav[ing] at the drain", or else partly using the addiction as a way to "rebel" against one's current life situation in which case "sickened" would mean "feel guilty about") and you make sure it will pass And you made it your business to fish the tumor out (=forced vomiting with fingers, or else confronting a problem, either the addiction itself or using the addiction to confront a different problem, such as some sort of sickness that makes it hard for you to ever feel good) so you take and shake it, shake it (take=take the drug) out of the ones you are (pull the addiction out from whatever other vices you already embody, or from different drug-influenced versions of yourself) When the medicine you fancy has all run out all good junkies go to heaven (sarcasm) When the medicine you fancy has all run out all good junkies go to heaven You bottled divinity (=put the object of addiction on a pedestal) for the thimble to drown in (thimble=very tiny cup, drowning=biting off way more than you can chew, possibly alcohol but maybe not) It brightens the children's faces (possibly talking about an entertainer who performs on drugs, or something like a pornographic artist or martial artist who takes out their addiction in the performance itself) when you water your old man (i think either, giving water/drugs to a withered, emaciated person much closer to death than before they started taking drugs, as something that will refresh them temporarily but obviously not bring them much further from death in reality, or else "old man" as in "father", like how it's said that the son will take on the vices of his father, especially things like alcoholism) a sinner at gun point (gun=addiction) you keep your monkey fed (obvious drug reference, again could be a double metaphor for a different type of addiction possibly) and he takes and shake it, shake it (he=the drug/monkey/addiction or the dealer of it, shake it=shake the life out of) out of the ones he hurt |
