Skinny Puppy – Testure Lyrics 12 years ago
I know in the 80's, Ogre was really into PETA and animal rights, but it seems like he may have also been alluding to some vivisection done on humans too. At the end he mentions genocide and 1945. Apparently vivisection without anesthesia was performed on prisoners of war during the Second Sino-Japanese War from 1937-1945. Also, Nazi Joseph Mengele, aka Angel of Death, performed extremely demented and cruel vivisection on Holocaust victims. That would also explain why Ogre used the term "genocide" since animal vivisection doesn't really have anything to do with genocide. It sounds like he's referring to that too, and possibly even victims of Ritual Abuse. Anyone else have any info on this?

Jay-Z – Lucifer Lyrics 12 years ago
Sounds to me like this is a song about killing Christians or Catholics. Jay Z's gonna burn in hell if he doesn't repent.

Bauhaus – Crowds Lyrics 13 years ago
I just got a total revelation about this line and the name of the song. It is referring to the "crowds" which crucified Jesus [Peter Murphy being artistically stylizing himself as the one being symbolically crucified in the song]. It's the crowds who've betrayed Peter Murphy in some way and spit on him and want him crucified (possibly referring to those spiitting audience members in the early 80's shows that others have mentioned). Here's the section Murphy is referring to:
Mark 15 (ESV - capitalization mine):
"8 And the CROWD came up and began to ask Pilate to do as he usually did for them.
9 And he answered them, saying, "Do you want me to release for you the King of the Jews?"
10 For he perceived that it was out of envy that the chief priests had delivered him up.
11 But the chief priests stirred up the CROWD to have him release for them Barabbas instead.
12 And Pilate again said to them, "Then what shall I do with the man you call the King of the Jews?"
13 And they cried out again, "Crucify him."
14 And Pilate said to them, "Why, what evil has he done?" But they shouted all the more, "Crucify him.'"

This totally makes sense. Which is a relief because it almost sounded like Peter Murphy was being anti-Semitic which, now that know this, I know he's not being. He's literally referring to that isolated 1st Century crowd that performed a kangaroo court against Jesus on that day.
