i think this song is about telling the people to not be so gullible and believe in whatever one person has to say. this is seen in the line 'im not a slave to a God that doesn't exist'. to a lot of people especially the christians, they tend to think that this refers to the God mentioned in the Bible but i beg to differ. I don't think that this 'God' is the God of the Bible but it is the very things that the human race as a whole worship today and it can be anything e.g. the government or a religious leader. and the line that follows after 'i'm not a slave to a world who doesn't give a shit' is quite clear-cut and straightforward where this world we live in, the people are getting more and more ignorant and self-centered. they simply couldn't give a shit. my favorite part is 'when we were good, you just close your eyes, so when we are bad, we'll scar your mind'. this seems to warn those who don't give a shit that if you don't give a shit now, don't blame me when some real shit happens to you in the future. |

there are several ways where one can interpret this song but i choose the path of religion. i'm a born again christian, specifically a charismatic although i'm no longer a practicing charismatic and whenever i listen to this song it reminds me of the relationship between me and the charismatic church. i am in no way attacking the religion but this is my interpretation of what it is. the beautiful people referred to in this song are the church leaders or those who hold themselves in high regards in the church. and the line 'it's all relative to the size of your steeple' reminds me of how the pastor of the church i used to go to keeps asking people to give to the church building fund so that he can build a mega church. the only reason why he would want to do that in my opinion is not because of how God gave him a vision and all that, but it's because it's relative to the size of his steeple i.e. his pride and his ego. for some of you here who have ever been to a charismatic church would know that they emphasize a lot on speaking in tongues, being baptized in the spirit and so on and the line 'the weak ones are there to justify the strong' to me speaks of that - the strong ones are the ones who can 'speak in tongues' or 'have spiritual gifts' or just had 'dreams and visions that God gave them' some nights ago while the weak ones have experienced none of the things mentioned above and they are used to justify the strong ones, to make the strong ones feel better about themselves. 'there's no time to discriminate, hate every motherfuckers that is in your way' seems to be speaking to people who are sick of this kind of churches because the charismatic church is filthy because of the discrimination they have towards the others; they just care about themselves and don't give a fuck about how other people feels, and so the remedy to this is to 'hate' these 'motherfuckers'. for me, the word 'hate' here is not to be taken literally, instead it means to stay away from them, to disassociate oneself from such kind of people. overall, this song to me feels like it is telling the people how fucked up Christianity has become due to the beautiful people mentioned in this song. |
