This song cracks me up :) Old 70s. Only those from this day and age can appreciate the song. A guy that keeps trying to find love but can never win at it. Just like a person gambling his money away. I don't know what this song means to the singer, but it has so much meaning to me. Back when this song was popular, it came on one evening. I was with my boyfriend riding in the car. I started crying and could not stop crying, I did this that night and the complete next day, while this song just kept playing over and over in my head. The next day I found out that my Grandma had passed away. Not only had she passed away she had committed suicide. She was very ill and the last time I had seen her was valentines day, she was very mean to me. I told her I loved her and knew that day I would never see her again and I didn't. This song when it plays I cry and cry! I wont tell them your name, I am not sure why this has meaning with my grandma dying but many things in my life have a song and they won't stop playing until I figure them out. My grandma had a very hard life, with a alcoholic husband and 4 kids, she wrote many letter, that went unread because she did speak her mind a lot. She was a woman that believed in justice and she wasn't afraid to speak her mind. One day maybe I will understand it. But for now on. I won't tell them her name :) |

| I believe this is about a crooked person that is very selfish all out for his own gain. Hes like a salesman that sells you a lemon. He keeps burning his bridges, because eventually people find out they have a lemon! But the power he receives is the money he gains. Which in turn are what keeps him warm at night. Easy... breaking you down is going to be so easy. She is all these good things, but he see's right through her. He is going to use her! She has let her guard down and let him come in unexpected to her, she thinks she has everything all under control, but she doesn't realize that she may control the things she wears and the things that she has but she can't control the manipulation someone else can do to her. Thats my take on it. I have had this song in my head for days. It has perfect meaning to me. |
