My interpretation is that this song is about unrequited love, and that the person this song is addressed to refuses to acknowledge the feelings for the singer. This is because the relationship would not be accepted - it could be extra-marital or same-sex.
This fits in well with the lyrics of the song: "You just keep on living this lie"; "denying what is real"; "I'm sorry that you can't stand the naked truth" all point to the notion that the person is not being true to his/her true feelings from some form of fear. |

This is one of the scariest songs I've listened to - enough to drive me to a feeling of intense despair for a few moments! Since she wishes to be saved "from myself", a likely interpretation is that she plans to take her own life unless, but the person she is addressing has the power to change her mind. |
