I used to love this 8-track (ha ha, my older sisters) back when I was a little kid and way to young to understand it. Now that I do (and to some degree wish I didn't) it takes on such a greater depth and meaning. Sway and Dead Flowers are almost magical with the incredible sadness and yet somehow nostalgic feelings they bring me of a time when I made a lot of bad choices. |

This whole album's a damn drug reference! If you've ever had a serious problem you know how much it takes over your life so its no wonder they were writing about it so much. Cocaine eyes and speed-freak jive are obvious. But also "I've been kicking" which is what your legs do when you're dope-sick. The most blatant that seems to go over everyone's head is the title! Like in GnR's Mr. Brownstone "he's been knocking, he won't leave me alone" is when you gotta get your fix. If you wanna go further out on a limb you could say walking the streets and begging are fairly common to someone in need. Looking for a friend to "help you out". And hearing a big bell toll, that's hardcore main-line snow reference right there. Scary stuff. Don't ruin your life kids. |
