Whoa... something just occurred to me, please forgive me for not reading all comments as I may be repeating someone. But we seem to be in agreement that the song is too short. Isn't that the feeling we all get, or at least used to at the end of summer? Just as you get into it and it starts to get good... it's over. I know this feeling more than ever now that I've spent more than a year being single and alone and now so close to the end of summer I've met a girl that has absoloulty turned my world upside down. |

It's a fun song... first time I heard it I saw it live. Seems to relate with the way guys can't ovecome the preconcieved notions that girls have about all guys being the same. And maybe take that as a challenge to prove that special girl wrong. |

I agree with "icantresist", and "jfabaza" wholeheartedly. It's funny and somethin I think Ben would do... this song's all serious/ballad-ish... kinda, but yet it's talking about a 'cid trip. Then again... I also agree with "dazed" because I've felt this myself, just the thought that your life will never go back to the way it was. Damn I love Ben Folds. |

THis song fast became my favorite song from the new album... just the quiet beauty it holds both musically and lyrically. I think it's about being comforted in a routine that becomes second nature and having it all taken away at once. When Fred goes to the basement he's trying to occupy his time, but his job was all he'd known for so very long. When "Fred sits alone at his desk in the dark" he's saying goodbye... coming to that harsh realization that "it's time". |

Hi... I think the feeling better is actually talking it out, saying something to that person who's been witholding all those secrets and feelings. This song completely epitamizes one of my last relationships... it's made me into even more of a Dashboard fan... now they're singing my song. |
