I think this song is about their job and their fame. "I cut my chest wide open, they come and watch us bleed"- I think this is about their song writing and how it is a mirror of their life and what they are going through, then they sing it for us, and we come to watch their shows. They said "I hope that you will never change" I went and cut my hair They say "Don't take your business to the big time" I bought us tickets there I think this lyric is about doing what feels true to yourself, no matter what the naysayers try to tell you to do or not to do. I LOVE The Avett Brothers!!! |
