| Kendrick Lamar – Sing About Me, I'm Dying of Thirst Lyrics | 13 years ago |
|
When he dies and goes to the afterlife he wants people to know that his lyrics meant something to them and they inspired them and so like the catch is when the lights shut off the promise you sing about me is he helps those he inspires will look to him as inspriation, "In case he's not here tomorrow" to let them know he cares, and it foreshadows his death. He needs to be reminded of the priorities of his life and he grew up in a lot of struggle and there's a lot of priorities and he's being reminded of it. He's talking to himself from the future looking to the past, trying to tell himself not to do all these things but he can't help himself. It was about all his choices and how he could not save himself from his situation. He wants to help himself and his family but he can't leave. He wonders if he can find a passion that help him get away from the lifestyle he's grown up in. He had no one to teach him right and wrong and now he's trying to figure out himself. And he wants people to know his story. Also religion plays a part...a part of him wants it to work, but he feels like reality keeps him living the life he knows he can't escape from. Hence good kid mad city he was good and as much as he tried to protect himself, he's environment won in the end, but there is still some element of hope. |
