Stevie Wonder originally wrote and sang this song in the early 1970s. It's interesting to note that Michael's version leaves out 3 lines of lyrics. The three lines that were omitted are: "I only pray that I have shown you a brighter day, Because that's all that I am living for, you see, Don't worry what happens to me." Either way, it's a fantastic, emotionally charged piece of music. |

This song is undoubtedly about the struggles he has had to endure with city life and his city girlfriend. That said, what's more enlightening is the way in which he chose to break the news to her. Not a very noble or compassionate way to do it but, let's face it, some of us in reality really do choose not to say it face-to-face. My favorite Don McLean song... |
