Coheed and Cambria – The Running Free Lyrics 13 years ago
I think this song is about someone who has already committed suicide, told by a person who thinks less of them because they committed suicide, or thinks little of them in general and is basically saying good riddance. When the album came out, the singer, I thought anyway, said something about the album being an anime story and the character knows he has to go on a suicide mission.

I think this song is meant to be from the point of view of a suicide bomber.

I believe this song is political in nature, and in particular is addressed to George W. Bush. The members of LOG are very liberal and are not religious. Many liberals believe that Bush and/or the Republican Party stole the 2000 election, and saw the events as counter to the principles of American government. Furthermore, a lot of liberals were horrified by the beginning of the war on terror, and found things like Bush's speech from the rubble of the WTC highly disturbing. Many believe that the war on terror was a Manichean construct meant to keep the people in a permanent state of fear as the government conducted an endless war. Hunter Thompson, for example, believed this and he went so far as to kill himself. The fact that Bush is an evangelical and the Republican party is very Christianity-oriented only adds to these fears in the eyes of many of the liberal and non-religious. It exacerbates the hypocrisy of the actions of the Bush administration who they feel basically invaded the middle east for oil profits. They may think that the right wing sees the war on terror and the invasion of Iraw as religious crusades (the head of Blackwater made comments to this effect after the Iraq war started, which was after this song was written), which is highly grotesque in their view and counter to the secularism and religious tolerance of the founding of America. Religious purtiy and enforcement of religious doctrines they see as another tool of government oppression. Sensing these developments in his country, the narrator does not feel he supports his own country that he loves and people have sacrificed for generations for, and in fact wishes it ill so that it will change its course.

Lamb of God – To the End Lyrics 13 years ago
I think this song is specifically about Bin Laden. The album came out in January 2012 and this song seems to have been a late addition as the songs before and after merge well. Bin Laden was killed May 2011, and the band recorded the album Feb-May 2011, which would have been the correct time frame for writing and adding this song to the album late in the process. Clearly, the narrator has a negative opinion of the subject he's referring to, and that subject is dead, thus I don't think it would be about troops leaving Iraq, which only happened just before the album came out. LOG has said they did not want to be political on Resolution, but that was before recording, and I think the news of Bin Laden's death changed things. Given their cynicism of the American government apropos the war on terror and their suspicion that the government never wanted to get Bin Laden, it would have been a very significant piece of happy news for them.
