This is about a person who realizes that the person they're in a relationship with does not feel the same way they do. "I'll try not to lose you" is a statement devoid of any emotion or love. This implies that the narrator had just poured out his heart to her and received a loveless response. The lines "Nothing hurts my world, just affects the ones around me, when sins deep in my blood, youll be the one to fall." Is the girl confessing that the unholy things she has done in the past don't bother her, just the ones who love her. The narrator wishes he didn't care about them at all. The way the girl's past makes him feel hurts her, but its killing him. The narrator comes then comes to the realization in the second verse that his expectations are unrealistic. He can't take back the sins the girl has committed, and he can't stop her from sinning in the future. Its pointless to try to perfect a world meant to sin. In the end, all their original promises are broken and the steadfast wall that was their relationship is torn down. The two are still together since the narrator has come to terms with her unholy confessions, but the relationship will never be the same. |
