| Funkadelic – Maggot Brain Lyrics | 12 years ago |
| Also, I'm pretty sure "Maggot Brain" was a nickname George had for Eddie | |
| Funkadelic – Maggot Brain Lyrics | 12 years ago |
| Personally I have always thought that "Mother Earth is pregnant for the third time." was just a reference to how Maggot Brain is the third Funkadelic album. With Funkadelic, or any p-funk followers for that matter, being Mother Earth | |
| Earth, Wind & Fire – Miracles Lyrics | 13 years ago |
| Oh damn, I love this song. It always makes me feel like I'm watching a musical in an actual theater, front row. | |
| Sly and the Family Stone – Dance to the Music Lyrics | 13 years ago |
| I never got that ‘Ride, Sally, ride’ quote. I always thought that Sally would refer to Sly's organ but I never actually figured it out. | |
| George Clinton – Paint the White House Black Lyrics | 13 years ago |
| I feel like Kam definitely went the hardest on this track, even Breed couldn't keep up with him lyrically. The ‘Kam, read his toe tag’ line refers to the video by the way. In the video there's a dead man on a hospital bed with "Uncle Sam" written on his toe tag. (More parts of Kam's verse actually sync with the video). | |
| Marvin Gaye – I Met A Little Girl Lyrics | 13 years ago |
|
The song basically sums up everything from the day Marvin and Anna met until some time after the two got a divorce. A few notes on the lyrics: ‘I met a little girl, sure was fine Pretty little thing just about blew my mind She took me home, and made love to me I knew right then and there this is where I wanted to be’ Note that there are at least a few years between the day they met and when they first had sex. The two started dating 3 years after they met. --- The year 1964 is the year Marvin and Anna got married, which explains the vowels that are exchanged just before the year is mentioned. With 1976 being the year this song was recorded in and the year the two were declared divorced by the state. --- The last four lines would mean that Marvin is happy about the break-up when singled out and read. But this is not true as is noticeable by reading the rest of the lyrics and listening to the song (He sings that part quite soft, less confident, and somber). |

| Zapp – I Can Make You Dance Lyrics | 13 years ago |
| Correct, dancing is used as a non-sexual synonym for being happy and relieving stress here. Even ‘Now I got a thang that's sure to make ya wanna move’ refers to his voice. | |
| Funkadelic – You And Your Folks, Me and My Folks Lyrics | 13 years ago |
|
The hook is quite alike to an 1922 folk rhyme from Thomas W. Talley’s Negro Folk Rhymes (Wise or Otherwise). Sounds like an interpolation to me ‘If you an' yo' folks likes me an' my folks, Lak me an' my folks likes you an' yo' folks; You’s never seed folks since folks ‘as been folks, Like you an’ yo' folks lak me an' my folks’ |
