Oasis – Morning Glory Lyrics 13 years ago
At first I thought this song could be about a girl who struggles with self image and cutting, mirror and razor blade. But now I think it's about how someone who's addicted to drugs can't see anything past it. And all of our dreams were taken by this addiction, or maybe they were never there in the first place.

Meat Puppets – Backwater Lyrics 13 years ago
I've always thought this song was about someone killing themselves by cutting their veins.

"In the backwater swirling there is something that can never change."

People usually sit in a tub of warm water while they die this way, so blood is what's swirling in the water as it goes down the drain. The act of suicide is "something that can never change."

"With a knife to open up the sky's veins."

Pretty self-explanatory, the suicidal person uses a knife to open up their veins, and maybe the sky means heaven, where he/she hopes to go?

Also "half-unconscious from the pain"- Killing yourself this way is extremely painful as one would have to cut through tendons to get to the veins, and it's easy to lose consciousness when experiencing that kind of pain.

"And when I wake up in the morning
To feel the daybreak on my face
There's a blood that's flowin'
Through the feeling,"- The singer (or someone) woke up depressed and decided he didn't want to live anymore. The daybreak no longer brings hope but another exhausting day and it's time to check out.

That's how I've always seen it. It's depressing, sorry I'm a melancholy person.
