I think this song is about drug addiction. Apart from some obvious connotations such as "if I'm clean", and telling someone that they don't want them to be worried about him anymore, there are less specific hints such as "dancing with my demons". The four different verses seem to juxtapose how the narrator is dealing with life - with positive statements, and outside actions, to how the narrator is actually feeling - with a mix of chaotic, negative or inactive statements. Considering the mention of "drunk in the doorway/ pissing in the hallway" - the drug in question could be alcohol that the narrator is struggling with. It would seem as though the "comeback girl" mentioned in the lyrics could be alcohol itself, as the narrator states that they have been "lonely for far too long", and it fits with the juxtaposing positive/negative verses, which can be compared to non-binge/binge episodes. (i.e. the narrator is lonely and dealing with alcoholism, when ti gets too much, he knows he can always go back to the drink - his 'comeback girl'). |

I can't believe no one has commented on this song yet! This song is absolutely beautiful, the meaning is fairly straight-forward, two people in a relationship where both of them sea each other as two good to be true, a feeling which isn't shaken with time. |
