Wow, heard this for the first time today... anyone else find this to be somewhat Dylan-esque? We're friends now also seems to be a similarly bitter song.... |

Am I reading too much into the lines: "Now that things are costing nothing, is any of it good?" to be his reflection of the music industry? (i.e. with downloading, music's free - but is any of it even worth downloading for free?) |

Sometimes you just want to be away from everything that's going on; sometimes you need to be the escapist to save your own sanity. |

Incredible song - and I agree with the other comment that this was Skinner's "I'm out" song - and he crafted it in a phenomenal way. Knowing that this wasn't his interpretation, I've personally taken it to mean (context: end of a personal relationship), sometimes situations present themselves such that the only thing you can do is to knock out the lights, lock the locks and leave ... and never look back. |

My very personal interpretation (getting off a rough break up) is that misunderstandings - regardless of whether A.D.D. is for attention deficit disorder or alcohol and drug dependency - the other person didn't understand. That doesn't mean either were wrong. For me, the singer's throwing out reason's for the misunderstandings and just letting himself sink - or, more aptly, sail ... away from others (i.e. the longing for isolation when times get rough).
Again, just my opinion, and like others have commented, this song's great because there's many different interpretations. |
