Coldplay – A Sky Full of Stars Lyrics 11 years ago
"'Cause you're a sky, cause you're a sky full of stars
I'm gonna give you my heart "He's telling this to someone he loves so much. "And I don't care, go on and tear me apart. I don't care if you do. 'Cause in a sky, cause in a sky full of stars" No matter if she doesn't treat him well, his love's not going to change.

Coldplay – Oceans Lyrics 11 years ago
This could be of someone in the need of someone to love. He's ready for all. Waiting. But he feels that it never going to happen. "Got to find yourself alone in this world. You've got to find yourself alone"

Coldplay – Another's Arms Lyrics 11 years ago
This album is indeed a whole story. Following the story, he is facing a break up. "the world means nothing to me" "the pain just rips right through me". But she's already with another man and he's only wishing to go back with her. "that's just torture to me. Another's arms, another's arms" "Wish that you were here beside me"

Coldplay – Midnight Lyrics 11 years ago
And this one goes after "Ink" and "True love". If we follow the story, in this song she's left him already and he's struggling with the situation. "When I'm rolling with the punches and hope is gone. Leave a light, a light on"

Coldplay – True Love Lyrics 11 years ago
This one goes just after "Ink", so maybe she's stopped expressing what she feels for him because something's going wrong in the relationship. "And I wish you could have let me know"
"Just tell me you love, if you don't then lie, oh lie to me". He just want to be loved by her because he really loves her and doesn't want to break.

Coldplay – Ink Lyrics 11 years ago
"Carved in your name with my poker knife" It could be just a metaphor of the extremely need of trying to keep her inside. "Feels like there's something broken inside" "And you wonder when you wake up, will it be alright" Maybe things are not going alright but it doesn't mean he doesn't want to be with her no matter what. "All I know is that I love you so". He really loves her.

Regina Spektor – Pavlov's Daughter Lyrics 12 years ago
Many years later, I finally resolved the rest!

About the grave diggers getting stuck in the machine picking slimmer, I agree with -netmantxon- (http://songmeanings.com/songs/view/3530822107858559531/?&specific_com=73015576314#comments)

About the grave diggers calling her because she's contemplating suicide, I disagree. I think they're calling her because she eventually will die (and it's not her decision) so she feels the pressure.

About the boulder to her ear reminds me of Luke 40: "I tell you that if these were silent, the stones would cry out." (the difference between a boulder and a stone is the size, and both of them are rocks.) She's not saying anything ("if these were silent") and still can't hear them talk. (This interpretation is based on Luke's context.) -netmantxon- didn't mention about the part of us thinking she was an amateur playing with her temperature. She knows that by saying that the rocks' are not taking she will me judged as a girl with "poor faith" who is playing with her "temperature" that sometimes she's confident but then she can also have doubts.

About the "song about angels" and that the dumb-box is the TV, I agree and I add that the feather may represent God. A movie of God or something like that.

About Babylon, I agree but I also add that in the New Testament, is a symbol for every kind of evil. She rather go there for a drink than hearing of religion and God on songs and television.

About Lucille = Lucifer, I agree with -netmantxon-. Lucille tells her that when she turn her thoughts off it gets quite so I think her thoughts are about God. So Lucifer feels well when she stop thinking about Him.

About Pavlov's daughter = Us. I couldn't agree more with -netmantxon-. We are conditioned to wake up to the alarm and get up and go to work but we're not feeling fulfilled and quite the opposite we feel our life completely empty. A Pavlov's experiment. Pavlov's daughters and sons. We spend our life living that way and then, one day, we die. "It was far away and hazy like a dream, not a dream, not a dream, but the ocean, not the ocean, but forever..." Back again with the grave diggers picking slimmer and calling her name to speak, but she won't because she simply doesn't want to and instead, she's waiting for the boulder to talk for her. Then again being judged for her doubts and poor faith. She's tired of everything about it.

About her talking with Lucifer, I agree with -netmantxon-. He knows how she feel. "The only thing I hear is you and you don't sound nice and you don't sound right" is what she tells to him. He tells her again about what happens when she turn her toughts off and is "as quiet as an ambulance staking out the neighborhood". I'm not so sure of that but a stake is a vertical post to which an offender is bound for execution by burning. Maybe, an ambulance, instead of saving people, is killing people. "Waiting for the blade to slip and that final blow", she is the ambulance and she is waiting for the death. "But nothing happens, it's a cruel joke" she doesn't expect to find anything. "Going down stream..." She's dying. "To where... it isn't... even... real..." She still have doubts. "rain... at...all..." Maybe she has got to hell.

It makes sense to me.
Sorry if I have mistakes, it not my first language.

In Japanese culture, "42", when pronounced separately: "shi ni" (four two) sound like the phrase: "unto death". Also, "4" means death.

Owl City – The Saltwater Room Lyrics 12 years ago
I was trying for so long to figure out the meaning of the lyrics. I end up with this (I think it makes sense and if not, then at least now this is what it means to me and I feel identified):

Imagine he is a lonely "seashell" in the sand. He was in a "low light" (literally in the night or in a bad moment... or both).

She is a girl "walking down by the bay, on the shore" literally or just passing by him for any reason or coincidence.

"staring up at the stars (that aren't there anymore)." Some stars don't exist but you can still see them at night (because light travels at a finite speed of 186,000 miles per second, it can take light a long time to reach earth from such vast distances away). Anyway, it can be a metaphor that she is not letting the past go, still reaching for something that isn't there anymore.

When she saw him he began to "shiver violently" (or started to being scared) because he is introvert and no one ever comes to him.

She starts to discover "the tunnels all around" him "running into the dark, underground." words that continues the metaphor, like he's that seashell. She looks forward deep inside him, all his thoughts, all his fears, all of him.

"All the subways create a great sound" She turns his wrong parts to better things. She helps him to be a better person. She let him see all the beauty he didn't know he had.

"To my motion fatigue: Farewell." he is amazed by the way she sees him and believes all her words.

"With your ear to a seashell you can hear the waves in underwater caves" He starts to enjoy all that things they're discovering together. He needs her.

"as if you actually were inside a saltwater room." She now's inside him, inside that "introvert seashell".

"Time together isn't never quite enough. When you and I are alone, I've never felt so at home." Their relationship is very, very intimate. They know the deepest part of each other and they love it.

"What will it take to make or break this hint of love? Only time, only time." They know they already are in love, but any of them say something about it. Just enjoying their friendship so much, playing as lovers.

"Can you believe that the crew has gone and wouldn't let me sign on?" Sometimes he can't go to see her and it doesn't his fault. When that happens, he feels like all his "islands have sunk in the deep" because being with her is like being in an island, just both of them. "And I can hardly relax or even oversleep." That's literally.

"But I feel more with your hand in mine when we walk on the shore line." He will always feel better with her.

"I guess we'll never know why sparrows love the snow." I think is refering to this song: "The Bird and the Worm". They love summer.

"We'll turn off all of the lights and set this ballroom aglow." Inside their own world, they can do whatever they want.

"So tell me darling do you wish we'd fall in love?
(Yeah all the time) all the time" They really want something more.

"Time together isn't never quite enough
When you and I are alone, I've never felt so at home" They love to pass time together.

"What will it take to make or break this hint of love?
Only time, only time" Always playing as lovers even if they don't belong to anyone.

"When we're apart whatever are you thinking of?" She ask him. "If this is what I call home" he answers when he's away from her "why does it feel so alone?" and he misses her.

That's all. I love the person who made me feel like this.

It's about the strength that one person can give to someone. In the song, "her", can be a friend, a mother, a girlfriend or even a wife. She can give us strength with her words and "even in your rains and shadows, still we're never gonna part" means that she will always be there for us.

Miguel Bosé – Aire Soy Lyrics 13 years ago
Pues, a mi opinión.
