| The Mars Volta – The Whip Hand Lyrics | 1 year ago |
| I happen to have heard and memorised the line towards the end to conclude with “A.P.C.”, an abbreviation for armoured personnel carrier. In other words, something which is used not least in war zones or ones developing as such. And this might lead to the question of what it would mean for the manufacturers of such military equipment to depend on conflicts. Although this interpretation would seem to be a bit removed from what seems to be characterised as a cold father figure, to which one could add that cold mother figures may exist as well, it could be a more abstracted take on it. In case that the actual line reads “E.C.T.” as stated above, which is suggested to stand for electroconvulsive therapy, it would, nevertheless, suggest a theme of mental challenges. And this could be interpreted as both what is contributing to the behaviour of the father figure as well as what may result in those affected by it. A human landmine tends to manufacture the next, so to speak. In a broader sense, alongside questionable behaviour patterns such as egotism, aspects such as societal pressures and the commercial market system and its inherent inability of accounting for every last one could be seen as constants in causing or contributing to mental challenges. And as the mentioned therapy seems to be a controversial one, it could also be interpreted as a criticism towards camps in psychology competing for dominance. To the detriment of those being bombarded with, so to speak, more or less meaningful diagnoses and subjected to, alongside potential shortcomings in character of psychologists and psychiatrists themselves, supposed treatments of who knows what kinds. | |

| @[pennyroyal:51749] As the three most notorious religions do seem to tend towards demanding blind faith, it does seem necessary to interpreted this composition accordingly, with a negative undertone. In regards to the damning in the river possibly representing tendencies of rivalry and condescend between religions, a result of the contents of the scriptures respectively their interpretations, which should be seen as an achievement of incredible idiocy since they are without exception based on the human invention of supernatural divinity, I would think that what is certain is that washing oneself in the river to be a religious cleansing ritual. Aside from the probably complex question of what is to be considered as a sin and whether it makes sense to do so, a cynical interpretation of this might be that because no sins are going to be washed away by one or more inexistent deities, the result of relying on such a ritual only would be that one keeps carrying more and more sins. And although this might be beyond the intended meaning of said line, as this ritual may have damaged the river’s so called ecosystem over time, it would allow for an additional meaning of damnation to be introduced. | |

| @[Schizotypic:51748] Is it possible for something which complements emotional aspects to make no sense at all, if I may ask? Maybe what was meant was for compositional tendencies to potentially be expressions of creativity. Also, as “marketing” tends towards calculation and insincerity, it should cause stomachs to turn. And it would also be consequential in the sense that it tends to diminish creativity. | |

| @Fatali-Liberi In regards to the line about avoiding the sharpening to hold a positive meaning, I am with the other contributor which you mentioned. In the sense that it may have been meant in a cynical way, that seeing respectively thinking more clearly should be avoided as it could lead to the realisation that, as no supernatural deities exist whatsoever, no one will be forgiven or saved strictly from this human invention. And, therefore, that his death, respectively what has been described as a killing of murderous indirectness, indeed will have been in vain. | |

@[VQts:51747] Accompanied by another individual and their comparably mindful ability to express in a manner where physical forms of affection are turned into convenient banality, you are not alone. |

@[2bit_junkie:51746] Aside from the question of what your expectation is in regards to positions on a sales chart to be able to tell, other than that the plague of commercialisation that it serves has not been abolished yet, consider whether it makes sense to pitch these three albums against each other. Albums which seem to have grown one from the other while also seeming to bleed into each other. I have had the ending of this song alone repeating as an endless stream in my mind for at least one and a half days now. There is something soothing to it as well as something mournful, a lamentation, which might be seen as a paradox. It is sometimes without or with less and sometimes accompanied by the comparably wonderful saxophone parts and their tendency towards intensification in a playful and perhaps spontaneous manner. |

@[epicmikenomore:51424] In regards to the second part of your sentence, be careful about a literal interpretation of this final portion of the song. It seems to be misleading. A human invasiveness in regards to what is referred to as nature seems to be one of the main reasons for the spreading of the virus responsible for said disease. It therefore should be seen as an exaggeration out of an understandable aversion respectively concern for said invasive tendencies and not as a result of some experiment in so called biological technology. Interestingly, for the longest time have I memorised, or adapted in my imagination, the line about “cut-throat” as “control”. As control corporations, read control entities, and ultimately what is referred to as governments who can partake in the sense of being responsible for lax regulations. Also, trying to publish a first version of this paragraph elsewhere, the geni(o)uses in charge there seem to have drastically limited the available amount of characters. Invasive tendencies on one hand, simplifications and capricious limitations on the other. A wonderful world it is, indeed. |

| @[awesomeo67:17191] You do know though that he can be very cynical at times? This track is full of meaning, positive meaning, so there is no reason to downplay it. | |
| Paradise Lost – True Belief Lyrics | 9 years ago |
| I like to hear "I don't know about a century life" as "I don't know about a century of life", "when the love of generations dies". And also, "I can see no good in taking your own life", "when the love of generations dies". Your life is precious, cherish it. | |
| Danzig – How The Gods Kill Lyrics | 9 years ago |
| I kept hearing "there you'll find the news" instead of "noose", but I think that both terms can be used. It could even be that one is a linguistic play on the other. What is within you is of excruciating importance, even though some seem to go about it in a lackadaisical manner. | |
| Danzig – Deep Lyrics | 10 years ago |
| What does the abbrevation mean? Albeit admittedly flaved by my expectations, "I won't take sex from love" (which cannot be, if one is sincere to oneself and an opposite) sounds about right to me. | |

| As long as there is The Mars Volta - and yes, there is, don't get mislead - there is no need for something that comes close to it. You might want to expand your musical styles and find artists which are of similar brilliance there. ;) | |
