The thing that I wonder about, and maybe I'm just taking it too literally is the line about 'holding you just out of sight of her', as in, the girl this song is about was not his girlfriend as such but someone he was having an affair with? Also, following that same thought, it's like he feels guilty when he asks if she still thinks of him, like maybe she was more into it than he was at the time, but he had his other woman so she put a stop to it, and now he's left feeling like he should've chosen her instead because she's with someone else and he's stuck as he was. I don't really know what put me in that train of thought, but it's just always the scenario that pops into my head now when I listen to it. |
