It seems very anti-religious. And knowing Alice, I would assume she is an atheist, and would likely be against religious indoctrination of children, which seems to be an underlying theme of the song. Although, she's never confirmed that in any interview I've read, (and I'm a fucking rabid fan of CC, I read/watch all of their interviews that I can get my hands on.) My only issue with that interpretation is that it seems too obvious for Alice, she usually writes more metaphorical lyrics than this. Maybe she just really wanted to drive the point through on this track, or maybe there's a sort of hidden metaphorical meaning behind it. |
