This song is indeed about Blind melon's Original Lead Singer, Shannon Hoon. Its Not commonly Known, But Part of the Song was actually written by Shannon, Though not in "Song Format". When Travis joined the Band They all Started working this song up togethor, and One of the Original 4 Gave Travis a Letter that Shannon Had written. Within that letter was written the Words that would Later Become Lyrics for this song : "I want to live so much that I am going to die I want to run so fast that I am going to fall" Great Song Guys. RIP Shannon... |

| Blind Melon – Paper Scratcher Lyrics | 13 years ago |
| This Song Is Reffering to a Homeless Guy Near where Shannon once Lived. The Guy would sit at the bus stop and Scratch pieces of paper with his fingernails. Shannon took a great deal of interest in the guy. This song is Shannon's Comparison of Himself to the Homeless Guy, and how he felt Equally Abnormal. The guy the Song was written about can be seen on the Cover of Their Single CD for the Song "Change" | |

| Blind Melon – Galaxie Lyrics | 13 years ago |
| Galaxie Is In Fact a Song about Shannon's First Love. It is also a Song about his 64' Ford Galaxie. The thing with Shannon is That Hardly any of His songs Contain only 1 subject matter. He liked mixing things up. The Galaxie was his Favorite Car (he Had atleast 5 Antique Cars), and The Line where he says "The Cadillac That's Sitting in the Back" is a reference to the 1970 Cadillac he owned. I have seen the house where he lived during the time this song was written, and there was an alley behind the house, and Shannon's Cadillac was Generally Parked Behind the house Near the Alley.... | |
| Blind Melon – Dump Truck Lyrics | 13 years ago |
|
I Certainly Wont argue whether or not there are Drug References within the lyrics of this Song, I can say for Certain what the Folling Lyrics Mean : "Burned a hand of a friend of mine And Bub I know that you could fly a mile high You told me nothing's ever gonna come between Nothing's ever gonna come between Nothing's ever gonna come between My dumptruck and me" This Refers to a Friend of Shannon's From High School who was Nicknamed "Bub". After High School Bub Took a Job Driving a DumpTruck for The County. Bub Found out He Had Cancer Shortly after, and passed away Quickly...and Yes, There is a Picture of He and Shannon Togethor, and Bub Has a Bandage on His Hand. Not sure what they were doing, But when Shannon says "Burned a Hand of a friend of Mine", He meant it quite literally. Dumptruck is a Tribute to a Fallen friend of His. RIP Shannon and Bub! |
